Recently Alysee was awarded the Student of the Month for the Fine Arts department.  This year has been an adjustment for her in the auditioned Chamber Choir as they have a new director. Alysee has really been a leader in the group.  So proud of this girl and her willingness to share her talent of singing!

Peace in Christ

The theme this year for the youth at church is "Peace in Christ."  I have loved focusing more on this theme and scripture about "learn of me."
Today at church several youth gave talks focusing on the theme.  Alysee also sang the theme song with several other youth in the ward.  I made a recording of them singing while they were practicing before church.  It is such a beautiful song!

Wish you could have been there -- this is the next best.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Yp4vCTVW-Y

It's hard to say "goodbye"

My Grandma passed away last night while being surrounded by loved ones.  My mom, dad, Laura, Seth, and cousin Eleanor were all holding her hand as she passed away.

How can 92 years just seem to be not quiet enough? Grandma will always have more class and elegance than me.

I love that she joined a stock broker club, started a fitness group in her little town, always had the most impressive yard, grew fresh herbs year round, hosted big family gatherings without looking like it was a big deal, taught me how to use a loom, took me on my first ferry trip to Victoria BC (and didn’t disown me when I lost my cookies in the cigarette garbage can on the ferry ride), gave everyone second chances, allowed my little family to live in her cottage while Birch did an internship, took interest in my kids and taught them how to catch little frogs in her yard, and took time to love each of her grandkids.

I’ll always cherish the last few visits with my Grandma where I was able to express my love for her through actions and touch. She primarily lost her ability to communicate when she had her stoke this past September but she expressed her love in a more tender way after her verbal abilities were robbed from her.
Love you Grandma Howe!!!

Wimbledon comes to Yakima

Today Tyler competed in his first tennis tournament outside of a school meet.  He and a friend played doubles, winning their first two matches, sending them to the championship match!  The championship match was scheduled to be held on Sunday.  We were proud of Tyler and his friend as they chose to honor the Sabbath day and not compete on Sunday.   So, they settled for second place in the tournament.  It was fun to watch some great serves, quick net play, and some very athletic shots.  We're at the beginning of high school tennis season, and Tyler is looking forward to a good one!

Congrats, boys!

Celebrating Claire!!!!

Claire's family threw a massive party for her celebrating Claire's chemo finishing after two years of that nastiness!!!  And boy did we P.A.R.T.Y.!!!  Lots of people pitched in to make it a wonderful day!  Several of the cousins spent the morning at Raptor Reef Indoor Waterpark while others were skiing.

We all convened at the church for mounds of desserts, dancing, tributes, and celebrating Claire.

Grannie made the cutest and super yummy little pudding cups.

Adorable leukemia cookies

Julia (with a bit of assistance from me) made these Brownie Bombs!!  Think a ball of cookie dough surrounded by a smooshed brownie and then dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with chocolate chips.

Deena made the cutest decorations!

Claire as been though so much!

The CRAZY Group of Awesome Dittos

Claire has been a warrior and fought hard these past two years.

She's still got lots of bloodwork to be done over the next few years and some other meds but the worst is over.  Uncle Brent gave Claire a really sweet blessing with all the Uncles before everyone parted ways.  It is wonderful to have the healing and comfort powers of the priesthood.  LOVE this family!
